How HitCraft Uses Music AI to Automatically Analyze and Tag Tens of Thousands of Hours of User-Generated Music
The Challenge
HitCraft is an AI Assistant for music creators, a single, adaptive workspace where artists can co-create with AI across the entire music-making process. From the same conversational interface, creators can fine-tune lyrics, discover compelling melodic lines, or generate full melodies from uploaded lyrics. They can produce songs in any genre and tap into capabilities that once required professional studios, like stem separation, vocal replacement, quantizing, EQ optimization, and adding or removing effects.
HitCraft follows a best-of-breed technology strategy, partnering only where the tools meet the highest standards its users expect. Every integration is chosen after rigorous testing to ensure it delivers exceptional performance.
To provide true personalization, HitCraft needed the ability to analyze user-uploaded recordings with a high degree of accuracy. This analysis, covering mood, tempo, key, genre, and other defining musical characteristics, among other things, is essential for making precise production recommendations, suggesting stylistically relevant fixes, and aligning release and marketing strategies with each artist’s unique brand. Selecting the perfect partner for such a core capability was critical.
The Solution
When deciding whether to build or partner for this capability, HitCraft tested multiple solutions. Music AI emerged as the best fit, offering high-accuracy stem separation, chord recognition, and metadata tagging.
HitCraft ultimately selected four modules from the Music AI platform, including:
- Stem separation to isolate individual tracks
- Chord recognition technology for harmonic analysis
- Cyanite metadata analysis tools for mood, key, and genre tagging
Combined with HitCraft’s orchestration engine, Music AI enables creators to co-create more effectively, delivering smarter recommendations, faster workflows, and higher-quality results at every stage. The team chose Music AI for its robust platform that integrates both in-house and third-party audio tools in one place. As a fast-growing service that frequently introduces new features, HitCraft valued the flexibility to expand integrations in the future.
The Implementation Story
HitCraft began using the Music AI platform independently for about two months before reaching out for direct support to optimize and scale its workflows. Once the teams connected, Music AI quickly fine-tuned the integration, ensuring the best possible experience for HitCraft and its users.
Results
Music AI’s suite of solutions enabled HitCraft to capture highly detailed and accurate metadata for all incoming music, allowing the platform to operate at peak effectiveness. The speed, scalability, and reliability of the Music AI API now allow HitCraft to handle these tasks automatically, on demand, and at scale for its large, active user base.
Today, HitCraft relies entirely on Music AI for all music analysis, processing tens of thousands of songs each month, over half a million minutes of music total, in an average of less than 17 seconds per track.
