Apple is upgrading its Music service this fall with iOS 26, introducing an AI-powered "AutoMix" for DJ-like transitions, along with new lyric translation and pronunciation tools, all unveiled at WWDC 2025.
Beats and bots: Headlining the updates is "AutoMix," an AI-driven tool designed to act as a personal DJ. Apple explains that AutoMix employs AI to examine a song's audio elements, building custom segues by adjusting tempo and aligning beats. The goal is to achieve a non-stop, smooth listening flow, directly challenging offerings like Spotify's AI DJ.
Sing it out loud: For global music fans, Apple Music is adding "Lyrics Translation" and "Lyrics Pronunciation." The translation capability, which Apple notes relies on machine learning refined by language specialists, lets users understand song meanings in other languages—potentially meaning fewer trips to external lyric websites. The "Sing" karaoke feature on tvOS also gets an upgrade, allowing an iPhone to serve as a handheld mic with amplified vocals through Apple TV.
Your faves, front and center: Beyond audio tricks, users will soon be able to pin favorite artists, albums, or playlists to the top of their Apple Music library for quicker access, a practical touch for frequently played tunes. "AI and machine learning are a core part of what makes Apple’s services feel so personal," stated Jeff Robbin, Apple’s vice president of Services Engineering.
