NBC Sports will use its corporate sibling, Comcast Technology Solutions, to power the video backbone for its U.S. broadcast of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The deal leverages Comcast's vertical integration for one of the world's largest media events.
- A decade in the making: The agreement builds on a proven, decade-long partnership and centers on the Comcast Sports360 platform. The cloud-based system manages and delivers all on-demand video and highlights across NBC's websites, apps, and Peacock, marking a deeper commitment to agile workflows over traditional hardware.
- An expansive production: "The Milan Cortina Winter Olympics will be one of the most expansive productions in our history, with viewers expecting seamless access to every event and key moment across the screens of their choice," said Darryl Jefferson, an SVP at NBC Sports. He noted the platform delivers the "speed, quality, and reliability that Olympic coverage demands."
By tapping its own in-house technology provider, NBCUniversal is betting on a tightly integrated system to handle the immense scale and technical demands of the Olympics, ensuring greater control over the viewer experience from end to end. NBCUniversal is looking to replicate its critically acclaimed Paris 2024 playbook, which dominated the media landscape. Meanwhile, the network has also detailed its broader programming strategy for 2026, outlining what viewers can expect to see across broadcast and streaming.
